Meaning of Mahatma
Mahatma is an adaptation of the Sanskrit word mahātman, which literally means "great-souled or saint." As a general, uncapitalized English noun, "mahatma" can refer to any great person, it is used as a title of love and respect for the people, who are doing good. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi is called “Mahatma Gandhi” for his teachings and principles for non-violence, civil rights, selfless service, truth, and simple living across the world. Noble laureate Rabindranath Tagore is said to have used this title for Gandhi ji on 6 March 1915.
Our Logo
On an average, Mahatma Gandhi walked around 18 km every day for nearly 40 years. (During his campaigns from 1914 to 1948, it is estimated that he walked approximately 79,000 km, which is equivalent to circling the Earth twice.). That was because no matter where he was, or how busy he was, Gandhi never skipped his walks.
Our logo is inspired by his continues walking for the wellbeing of others, thus reminding us to do the same. We are trying to walk on his footsteps, following the path he has shown and at the same time spreading his teachings and principles.
